Mountain Hawks begin outdoor season Saturday at Big 5 Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's track and field teams will kick of its outdoor season Saturday at the second annual Big 5 Invitational in Philadelphia, hosted by Penn. The Mountain Hawks will compete against the likes of host Penn, Villanova, LaSalle, Temple, Columbia, and Haverford.

On Thursday, it was announced that Lehigh was picked to finish third in the Patriot League after finishing third at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in February and third at the 2011 Outdoor Championships.

The team is coming off a successful indoor season in which 11 student-athletes earned ECAC berths. Sophomore Jessica Kendzor and junior Julia Perry earned All-East honors while Lehigh had 14 All-Patriot League performances at the indoor championships including 10 on the first team.

Senior Alexandra Doersam is the team's lone returner who qualified in the long jump for last year's outdoor NCAAs.

The field portion of the invite will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the track events are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. All events will take place at Penn's historic Franklin Field.

Lehigh returns to Franklin Field later in the season for the Penn Relays on April 26.
