Coen welcomes two newcomers to Lehigh coaching staff

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of two assistant coaches who will join the Mountain Hawks football program for the 2011 season. Charles Alexander has been hired as the team's assistant defensive backs coach, while Greg Keziah joins the Brown and White as the assistant offensive line coach.
The two new coaches replace Ernest Moore '08, who was recently named defensive backs coach at the University of Chicago, and Sal Dewalt, who has moved on to a position at Randolph Macon College in Virginia.
Alexander comes to Lehigh after three seasons as the defensive backs/assistant strength and conditioning coach at Gettysburg College.Among his duties with the Bullets, Alexander was responsible for practice and game planning, scouting, film preparation and recruiting. With Alexander on the coaching staff, Gettysburg posted a 6-4 record in 2010 for the program's first winning season in three years.Prior to his stint at Gettysburg, Alexander spent one season as the assistant defensive line coach at Villanova and was graduate assistant working with running backs and tight ends at Clarion University from 2005-06.
“I am very pleased to have Charles join our staff,” Lehigh head coach Andy Coen said. “Charles has a very strong background having coached at several schools including Villanova and has had the opportunity to coach the entire secondary at Gettysburg. I was impressed by his passion for football and I am confident he will be a fine addition to our program.”
A four-sport athlete (football, baseball, basketball, volleyball) at Newark High School in Ohio, Alexander began his college career at Butler where he spent two years as a tight end on the Bulldogs football team, before transferring to Ohio State. Alexander earned his bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State in 2002 and added a master's in education from Clarion in 2006.
Alexander is a member of both the American Football Coaches Association and the Black Coaches Association.
A North Carolina native, Keziah comes to Lehigh after spending the 2010 season as an offensive line assistant and offensive quality control coach at Yale. He was responsible for game and practice planning, as well as video breakdown and input and individual athlete instruction.
Keziah's coaching career began at his alma mater, Wingate University in North Carolina. He spent two years on the coaching staff serving as tight ends coach and assistant offensive line coach. He also worked on offensive quality control and assisted with strength and conditioning, special teams and recruiting. Keziah mentored an All-South Atlantic Conference tight end and several All-SAC offensive linemen as well as a line that blocked for the conference's top rusher in 2008. A four year starter on the offensive line for Wingate, Keziah was a three-time ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Selection for his academic work, and an honorable mention All-SAC selection.
“I think Greg is a very fine young coach,” Coen explained. “He clearly has a lot of passion for the game of football and I believe he will bring a lot of energy to the practice field. I look forward to his contributions to the offensive staff.”
Keziah received his B.A. in history and psychology from Wingate in 2007, and added a masters of sports administration in education degree in August of 2010.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off their ninth Patriot League title in 2010. Lehigh will open preseason camp in early August, before kicking off the 2011 season on September 3 at Monmouth.
