BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a stellar effort in last weekend's River Cup, the Lehigh women's rowing team will travel to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts for the Patriot League Championships on Sunday. Competition begins with the Varsity Four at 8 a.m. followed by the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight at 8:10 and 8:20, respectively.
Lehigh is coming off its River Cup Triumph, when it captured both the women's and overall cup against archrival Lafayette.
“Winning the women's cup gave us that needed confidence as a team for this coming weekend,” said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. “The team has made great strides this week with refining our technique and our trouble areas. We need to be aggressive and need to be clean this weekend; if we can do that, then we'll be right in the mix.”
The Mountain Hawks have enjoyed up-and-down success this spring season, highlighted by last weekend's performance, two weeks after capturing the Neuweiler Plate on Apr. 2.

The Women's Varsity Eight set the tone as the Mountain Hawks' first crew came in at 6:29.60 while the Second Varsity was next (6:39.90) before Lafayette crossed the finish line just under two seconds later (6:41.70).
Bucknell will be vying for its sixth-consecutive league title this weekend. The Mountain Hawks will also row against Patriot League rivals Navy, Colgate, Holy Cross and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
For Conley, it marks his first experience in a Patriot League Championship regatta.
“It is very exciting to take over a team and lead them to this point in the season,” he said. “I look at each race as being just as important as the other since we have so few opportunities in a year to show our speed. For me, the excitement comes from the fact that this race will be the first time all the league members will be racing each other this spring. I am excited to see what happens.”
