BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team (16-9, 1-1) split a doubleheader with the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday afternoon with a game one 6-2 victory and a game two 9-5 loss. Lehigh will close out the series with Navy on Sunday afternoon on the Goodman Campus.
Senior pitcher Mike Lebo earned his second-straight victory in the 6-2 victory over the Midshipmen in game one. Lebo went 5.2 innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs while striking out four. Despite the loss in game two for Lehigh, freshman Nick Cassell pitched five inning of scoreless one-hit ball.
Chad Warga had a big day for the Mountain Hawks, as he went a combined 4-of-6 with two RBI in both games. Brendan McGaheran also collected four hits on the day, including three in game two on one double and two singles.
In game one, Lehigh was the first team to get on the board, as Chad Warga singled in Brendan Pifer in the second inning to give the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 lead. The Midshipmen responded with a two-run homer in the very next inning from Andrew Hahn, giving the Mids a 2-1 lead.
The Brown and White had a big bottom half of the inning with response. Logan Winchester led off the inning with a single and Andy Russell doubled to give Lehigh runners at second and third with nobody out. The Mountain Hawks then manufactured two runs on RBI groundouts from Kevin Mihalik and Austin Borden to retake the lead. Later in the inning, Lehigh strung together three-straight singles, with the third one being an RBI for Warga. The Mountain Hawks had a 4-2 lead.
Lehigh tacked on two more insurance runs in the fourth inning to secure a 6-2 victory. Cory Kent came in for the final 1.1 innings to shut the door and earn his fourth save of the season.
In game two, Lehigh immediately got on the board in the first. McGaheran led off the inning with a double to right centerfield. He then advanced on a wild pitch to third base and scored on a passed ball. Lehigh had the opportunity to do more damage in the inning, but left the bases loaded and had a 1-0 lead after the first. Navy had an opportunity to tie the game in the second when Taylor Cato singled. Dave Milanes, who was on first base, was thrown out on a nice relay at home though, as the Midshipmen were held scoreless.

Navy's big inning came in the third, as it scored five runs. In that inning, the Midshipmen collected five hits, all of which were singles. At that point, Thomas O'Malley replaced Colin Gotzon on the mound. Navy had a 5-1 lead at that moment in the game. Navy added four more runs in the fourth inning, including a Milanes three-run homerun. All four runs were unearned in that inning and the Midshipmen had a 9-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lehigh loaded the bases with no outs and Jeff Wiand drilled a ball to centerfield, where the centerfielder made an incredible catch on a ball that was potentially going over the fence. Wiand was credited for a sac-fly on that play, but that is all the Mountain Hawks would get in that inning. Then in the seventh inning, Lehigh picked up two more unearned runs, including an RBI single that was credited to Ryan Gajdos. Navy had a 9-4 lead after seven.
Lehigh tacked on another run in the eighth inning on a Mihalik single. The Mountain Hawks' inning abruptly ended though on a double play groundout. The Brown and White were held scoreless in the ninth as the Mids earned the 9-5 victory.
