Bradley repeats as Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior defenseman Richard Bradley has earned his second straight Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award, as announced on Monday. Bradley enjoyed a stellar game against No. 20 Colgate, posting four groundballs and three caused turnovers while holding the Patriot League's second-leading scorer Peter Baum without a goal.
Coming off his first-career Defensive Player of the Week, Bradley wasted little time in earning his second. Overall, it marks Lehigh's fourth defensive player of the week honor to go along with two from sophomore Ryan Snyder. Bradley's four groundballs and three caused turnovers against the Raiders upped his season totals to 26 and 20, respectively. Fourteen of those groundballs and 12 caused turnovers have come in his past three games.
Perhaps most impressively, Bradley held Baum, a Tewaaraton Award Candidate, to only an assist after he entered with 37 points (29 goals, eight assists) through his first 10 contests. Bradley also spearheaded a Mountain Hawk defense which held Colgate scoreless for one stretch of 9:54 in the first quarter. In total, Lehigh has held its opponent scoreless for a 15+ minute stretch in six of its last seven games.
Also honored on Monday was sophomore attackman Dante Fantoni, who received honorable mention laurels after scoring three goals and adding an assist on Saturday. That marked his 10th career hat trick and second in a row. Three of those goals came in a span of 2:24 in the fourth quarter, to pull Lehigh within 9-8. The comeback attempt fell just short, however, as the Mountain Hawks dropped an 11-8 final.
Lehigh (6-6, 2-2 PL) continues its long six-game homestand with two more games against ranked foes as the squad looks to clinch its first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2006. The Mountain Hawks could do that with a win over No. 12 Bucknell (10-2, 4-0 PL) on Friday. Faceoff at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Mountain Hawks then host No. 9 North Carolina on Sunday for a special 12 p.m. faceoff inside Goodman Stadium. That game will also air nationally on the CBS Sports Network.
