DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Lehigh baseball team (3-2) started off its spring break down in Davenport with an 8-6 victory over the Yale Bulldogs on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks trailed 6-1 early in the game, but the Brown and White rallied to score seven straight runs to seal the victory.

Lehigh had many notable individual performances, but the story again was the strong pitching out of the bullpen. Thomas O'Malley, Dan Ciccone and Cory Kent pitched six innings of shutout baseball in relief of Cameron Phillips, who made the start on the mound. Brendan McGaheran went 3-for-5 with a game-winning homerun and two RBI. Billy Goldman also collected two hits and two RBI for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh was the first team to get on the board, as Brandon Pifer sent a base-hit to center field in the top of the second inning, scoring Kevin Mihalik. Yale would answer back though in the bottom half of the inning as they put up a six spot. Three of the six Bulldog runs went unearned on an error and four hits. Yale led 6-1 and would be held scoreless by the Phillips and the Lehigh bullpen for the remainder of the game.

Mihalik delivered in the next inning, as he cracked a double to score Billy Goldman to make the score 6-2 in favor of Yale.

Following a scoreless fourth inning, the Mountain Hawk rally continued in the fifth. Ryan Gajdos started the inning with a leadoff double. McGaheran then singled to advance Gajdos to third. The string of hits continued as Goldman belted a two-run double to score McGaheran and Gajdos. Goldman would then advance to third on a wild pitch and then later score on an Andy Russell RBI groundout. Lehigh at that point cut the Yale lead to 8-5.

The Mountain Hawks tied the game at six when Gajdos earned his second RBI of the day on a base hit. The big blow came one batter later, when McGaheran belted a two-run homerun, which would be the eventual game-winner.

Kent shut the door in the ninth inning, earning his first save of the season.

Lehigh will take on Miami (Ohio) in a doubleheader on Sunday.
