Mountain Hawks picked to finish fourth in Patriot League preseason poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2011 baseball season is set to get underway and the Patriot League's annual preseason poll was released on Wednesday. Lehigh received 23 points in the poll and is picked to finish fourth this upcoming season.
The league's sports information directors and coaches voted on the poll, selecting Army (45 points) to finish as the top team. The Black Knights, the defending regular season league champions, received six first place votes.
Coming in second is Bucknell with 43 points and it also earned five first place votes. The Bison are the defending Patriot League Tournament champions. Holy Cross, who defeated Lehigh in the Patriot League semifinals last year, is projected to finish third with 36 points and one first-place vote.

The Mountain Hawks, who finished second in the regular season standings last year, are bringing back an experienced team in 2011 that includes 2010 Second Team All-League selections Cory Kent, Kevin Mihalik and Jim McConlogue. Kent was also named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award watch list for the 2011 season.
Lehigh will open up the 2011 season on February 25 when it travels down south to Davidson, N.C. While in North Carolina, Lehigh will face Ohio and Davidson over a three-day span. The Mountain Hawks will make their 2011 home debut at Goodman Campus with back-to-back doubleheaders against Iona on March 19-20.
