BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the 2011 Lehigh baseball season less than a month away, head coach Sean Leary has released the 2011 schedule. The Mountain Hawks look to expand on a strong 2010 season that resulted in a Patriot League Tournament semi-final berth.
Lehigh will escape the winter weather for the first month of preseason play with a cluster of away trips down south. The Mountain Hawks will open their season on February 25-27 with three consecutive games in Davidson, N.C. While in North Carolina, Lehigh will face Ohio and Davidson.
“The team is excited for a challenging opening weekend,” said Lehigh head coach Sean Leary. “Playing quality opponents like Ohio and Davidson will be a great early test for our program.”
The Mountain Hawks will then head up north on March 2 to Dover, Del. to play Delaware State, before traveling down south again to Davenport, Fla. on March 5-10. There will be no time for Lehigh to sun bathe though, with four scheduled games against Yale, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Toledo, and a double header against Miami (OH).
After Florida, Lehigh will travel straight to Baltimore, Md. for three games against Coppin State from March 12-13. The Mountain Hawks will close out their road journey on March 16, when they square up against Villanova at 3:15 p.m.
“Our spring break will also allow our program to play outstanding competition and give the coaching staff a great opportunity to prepare the team for the Patriot League portion of the schedule,” said Leary.
Lehigh will make their 2011 home debut at Goodman Campus with back-to-back doubleheaders against Iona on March 19-20. They will then face Saint Joseph's on March 23 at home, before finishing up their home-game stretch with a double header against NJIT on March 26. The Mountain Hawks will make the short trip east to NJIT the next day for their second doubleheader of the weekend.
Leary and the Mountain Hawks will complete their pre-season schedule with home games against St. Joseph's and Maryland-Eastern Shore on March 29-30.
Lehigh will open up their 2011 Patriot League regular season with consecutive double headers against Navy on April 2-3 at Goodman Campus. They will face either Temple or Delaware at home on April 5, before hitting the road again on April 6 to play St. Joseph's for the third time.

The Brown and White will travel to its archrival Lafayette on April 9-10 for a four-game weekend. The Mountain Hawks look to improve on a four-game winning streak against the Leopards in 2010.
Lehigh will return back to campus for their final home campaign of the season to face regular season champion Army on April 16-17. The Mountain Hawks will close out their home schedule with a double header against Penn on April 20, a four-game weekend against defending league champion Bucknell on April 23-24 and a rematch against Coppin State on April 27.
Lehigh will end their regular season on April 30- May 1 with an away trip to Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks will look to avenge their semifinal loss to the Crusaders in 2010.
The Patriot League Tournament will begin May 14 and be hosted by the team with the highest seed.
