No. 10 Lehigh draws UNC-Greensboro at Virginia Duals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seeds and brackets for the 31th Virginia Duals were announced Sunday afternoon with the tenth-ranked Lehigh wrestling team earning the No. 2 seed in the 16 team field. The Mountain Hawks will face UNC-Greensboro in the opening round of the duals, which begin Friday morning in Hampton, Va. Lehigh will face off against the Spartans at 11 a.m. and will then meet either No. 7 seed Wyoming or EIWA rival Bucknell at 3 p.m. Friday.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a third place team finish at the Midlands Championships last week. Lehigh has been off from dual competition since defeating Central Michigan 23-9 on December 12.
Lehigh will be making its tenth Virginia Duals appearance overall and its fourth in a row. The Mountain Hawks have reached the finals of the Virginia Duals in each of the last two years, losing to Central Michigan in 2009 and Oklahoma State last year. Lehigh captured its lone Virginia Duals title in 2003.UNC-Greensboro enters the Virginia Duals at 1-5. The Spartans lost their first five duals before beating Northern Illinois at the Hoosier Duals on November 27. UNCG has three men ranked in the latest Amateur Wrestling News Rankings: Sophomore Ivan Lopouchanski (No. 16 at 149), senior Andrew Saunders (No. 6 at 184) and junior Peter Sturgeon (No. 18 at 285). Friday's dual will be the second-ever meeting between the two schools. Lehigh defeated UNCG 36-6 at the 2008 Northeast Duals.
Penn State captured the top seed for the Virginia Duals. Michigan grabbed the No. 3 seed and would meet Lehigh in the semifinals if seeds hold. Seeds four through eight went to Kent State, Arizona State, Virginia, Wyoming and Edinboro respectively.
Lehigh's action at the Virginia Duals gets underway Friday at 11 a.m. when the Mountain Hawks face UNC-Greensboro at 11 a.m. at Hampton Coliseum. The Mountain Hawks second dual of the day, against either Wyoming or Bucknell will begin at 3 p.m. All of Lehigh's Virginia Duals action will be broadcast live online at Lehighsports.com.
