BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an impressive weekend against La Salle and Columbia, the Lehigh women's soccer team was honored on Monday with three Patriot League weekly awards. Freshman Murphee Greeley earned Rookie of the Week, junior Jana Basubas garnered Lehigh's second straight Defensive Player of the Week honor and senior Lauren Mains was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season.
Lehigh has now won each of the four weekly awards (offensive, defensive, goalkeeper and rookie) at least once this season. The Mountain Hawks have been honored each and every week thus far, beginning with Mains (Aug. 30), seniors Liz Carlos (Sept. 7) and Glynn Fitzer (Sept. 13), and junior Leah Kulp (Sept. 20).
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 1-0-1 weekend to extend their unbeaten streak to four games. After defeating La Salle, 3-1, they went on the road to tie Columbia, ranked fourth in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings. With the Patriot League opener set for Friday, Lehigh enters conference play at 4-1-2, its best record since going 8-1-1 out of the gate in 2005.
Greeley had a hand in three of the Mountain Hawks' four goals over the weekend while extending her point streak to six games in the process. She finished with a goal and two assists to up her team-leading point total to 10 (three goals, four assists). Friday against La Salle, she blasted a rocket into the top corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead at 21:46. She also assisted on the final tally at 89:37 when she unselfishly set up junior Ali MacLeod with a wide-open net on a two-on-one. Greeley recorded a career-high nine shots (five on goal), marking the most by a Mountain Hawk player this season.
The strong play continued into Sunday at Columbia when she assisted on Lehigh's only goal of the game which evened the score and forced overtime.
While Greeley sparked the offense, Basubas was key on the defensive end of the field, earning Lehigh's second straight Defensive Player of the Week award. On Friday, she spearheaded a defensive effort which allowed 10 shots on goal, only one of which came in the final 15 minutes after Lehigh took a 2-1 lead. La Salle only had one bad-angle shot in that span. Basubas helped the Mountain Hawks control possession, especially in the second half when they outscored the Explorers, 2-0.
Basubas followed on Sunday with another strong defensive effort, while also contributing on the offensive side of things with her first goal of the season. The goal, which came at 77:31, tied the score and allowed the Mountain Hawks to extend their unbeaten streak to four. Overall, the Lehigh defense has only allowed a single tally in each of its last four games which coincides with the unbeaten streak.
Mains continued her steady play in goal and has only allowed a single tally in each of the last four games. She made six saves against the Explorers, including a stellar leaping stop in the 38th minute which would have given La Salle the lead while completely changing momentum. She then made five stops at Columbia, holding the Lions to one goal or fewer for only the fifth time this season.
This marks Mains' second Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season after winning her first on Aug. 30 following a 13-save performance in the season-opener at Syracuse. For the season, Mains now owns a 1.33 GAA and .778 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks look to start Patriot League play on the right note when they travel to Army for a showdown with the 8-3-0 Black Knights.
