BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Eric Lambinus has finalized his coaching staff for the upcoming season. Sarah Dwyer, who served as the Graduate Assistant Coach last season, will move into a Volunteer Assistant Coach position, while she shifts additional focus to the pursuit of her MBA. Former Lehigh Graduate Assistant Amanda Brown will rejoin the Lehigh staff in the same role in this season. Brown previously served on Manny Oudin’s staff from 2008 to 2009.
"I am pleased to add Amanda Brown to our coaching staff for the 2010 season,” said Lambinus. “With the challenges that are ahead of me in my first year it is a great comfort to bring in someone who is familiar with Lehigh and our women's soccer program.
Lambinus continued, “Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the coaching staff and I think that it will help our student-athletes, especially the goalkeepers, continue to improve. She has worked with Lauren Mains in her previous time here at Lehigh and was instrumental in our recruiting of Ali Griffin. Both goalkeepers will definitely benefit from Amanda's tutelage in the upcoming season."
Brown came to Lehigh in 2008 assisting in the Mountain Hawks spring season, plus the fall 2008 and spring 2009 seasons. The New Jersey native earned her Master’s Degree in America Studies in 2009 and will be pursuing a PhD in history this fall.
A 2006 graduate of Penn State, with degrees in Advertising/Public Relations and American Studies, Brown was a four-year member of the Nittany Lion soccer team that won four Big Ten championships from 2002-05 and reached the Final Four in her freshman and senior seasons.
"I am thrilled to be returning to the Lehigh community,” Brown explained. “Between the College of Arts and Sciences and the Athletic Department, I cannot think of a better place for me to continue developing as a student, mentor and person. I am excited to work under Coach Lambinus and I am looking forward to getting back on the field with the team this fall."
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Brown earned freshman All-Big Ten and All-Region honors starting all 23 games and leading the Nittany Lions to the national semifinals in 2003, she played three seasons alongside Dwyer, who appeared in 85 games for the Nittany Lions, starting 45 games in the midfield.
The fourth member of Lehigh’s coaching staff for the 2010 season will be Erin Iwaskiewicz ’05, who enters her third season as Lehigh’s full-time assistant coach.
The Mountain Hawks will open preseason camp next month with the regular season slated to begin at Syracuse on Friday August 27 at 7 p.m.
