Strunk named to USL PDL Team of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Rising Lehigh junior Kevin Strunk has been named to the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League team of the week, it was announced Wednesday. The defender, who plays for the Ocean City Nor’easters in the PDL Mid-Atlantic Division, scored his first goal of the season, and added a strong defensive effort in his team’s 2-2 draw with Reading United last Friday. Down 2-0 at halftime, Ocean City rallied with two second half goals highlighted by Strunk’s equalizer in the 82nd minute.
The Downingtown, Pa. native has been a mainstay in the back for Ocean City playing every minute of every game this season, and contributing a goal and an assist. Strunk is one of two Mountain Hawks playing for Ocean City this summer, joining Neal Melchionni. The Nor’easters are 3-4-4 on the season after a 2-0 win over New Jersey Wednesday night.
Strunk started all 18 games on defense for Lehigh in 2009, picking up his first career assist against Brown.
Ocean City returns to the pitch Saturday when it hosts New Jersey.
