BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The accolades keep coming in for Lehigh senior Greg Angelo, as he was named ECAC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. Angelo tossed a no-hitter this past Sunday to defeat Lafayette 2-0 and help Lehigh earn its first series sweep against the Leopards since 2002. The lefty retired the final 12 Lafayette batters to pick up his third win of the season.
On Monday, Angelo was named a Louisville Slugger Player of the Week by the Collegiate Baseball News and the Patriot League’s Pitcher of the Week. Angelo’s no-hitter was the 10th in Patriot League history and the last Mountain Hawk to throw one was Steve Lyons ’89 against Coppin State in 1988.
The last Patriot League pitcher to throw a no-hitter was Sam Long of Navy on April 4, 2009.
Angelo, who currently leads the Brown in White in ERA (2.33), has helped Lehigh win six straight games and it currently sits tied with Army for first place in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks (14-16, 6-2) will face the Black Knights in doubleheaders this Saturday and Sunday at West Point, N.Y.
