BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a week in which it snapped Albany’s nine-game win streak and handed Navy its first Patriot League loss of the season, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team was rewarded for its efforts by the league on Monday as junior Lauren Dykstra was named the Defensive Player of the Week and senior Kelsy Ferris was honored as the Goal Keeper of the Week.  This is Dykstra’s 12th career award from the league and for Ferris it marks the fourth time she has been honored.

Dykstra had a busy pair of games last week as she was assigned to Albany’s Kayla Best on Monday and then had the tough assignment of slowing Navy’s Erin Rawlick on Saturday.  The junior captain did a terrific job in both games as she helped to snap Best’s 56-game goal scoring streak and then held Rawlick, the nation’s number-one goal scorer, scoreless in the win.  Against Albany Dykstra also scored a game-high five goals, including the game-winner and she scooped up three ground balls, won a pair of draw controls and caused two turnovers.  In the win over the Midshipmen Dykstra scored twice, picked up two ground balls and won three draw controls.

For the season Dykstra has scooped up multiple ground balls and won multiple draw controls in nine games.  She has four games with more than caused turnover and ranks among the team leaders in ground balls (38), draw controls (32) and caused turnovers (12).  Dykstra also leads the Brown and White in goals with 45 and points with 52.

Ferris had a huge week in goal for Lehigh as she stopped a season best 12 shots in the win over Albany and posted a save percentage of 54.5% on 27 shots faced.  The Maryland native then backed that up with a nine-save performance in the win over Navy where she registered a save percentage of 56.2% and also scooped up a season best three GBs.

On the season Ferris has played 308 minutes and sent back 115 shots.  She boasts a 9.34 goals against average and sports a perfect 4-0 record.

Lehigh and its award winners return to action on Saturday evening when the Mountain Hawks travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on the Colgate Raiders in a game with huge postseason implications.  Should Lehigh defeat the Raiders it will host the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and capture at least a share of the regular season league championship.  The opening draw is set for 5:00.
