Mountain Hawks look to bounce back against Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh returns home to take on the Navy Midshipmen Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks are coming off their toughest loss of the season as they fell to American 69-65 in overtime Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C. The Mountain Hawks struggled to get into a rhythm offensively and it took a deep three-pointer by Alex Ross with less than a second left to send the game to extra minutes. Emily Gratch recorded her third double-double of the season (13,12) and Erica Prosser dished out a career-high 10 assists. Navy is coming off an impressive opening league victory over Bucknell 70-40. At 9-7, the Midshipmen are off to a great start after going 16-15 last season.
The loss against American ended Lehigh’s eight game winning-streak, but the Mountain Hawks are still undefeated at Stabler Arena in 25 straight games. The streak is fourth longest in Division I behind only Connecticut (52), Maryland (47) and Stanford (36).
Emily Gratch (12) and Tricia Smith (11) both finished with double-figures in rebounds against American and it was the first time in four years that two Lehigh players accomplished that feat: Adrienne Blount (12) and Melissa Rich (10) on January 9, 2006.
Navy’s 30-point victory over Bucknell last Friday night ties its second biggest margin of victory in the Midshipmen’s Patriot League history.
Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday evening in Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus. Tickets are available in advance by calling 610-7LU-GAME or online at Lehighsports.com, and on game day at the Stabler Arena box office 60 minutes prior to tipoff. Wednesday’s game is winter warm-up night at Stabler Arena and all fans are encouraged to bring winter clothing items to donate which will be redistributed to area homeless shelters. Fans who donate items will receive free admission to the game.
