Mountain Hawks will travel in-state to face Penn

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh will head back out on the road to take on the Penn Quakers Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in its final non-league game. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a week that saw the team go 3-0 and claim their second straight Christmas City Classic title. The Brown and White defeated St. Bonaventure 68-66 to win the championship on December 31 and then opened up the New Year by defeating Akron 59-57 this past Saturday night. Sophomore Alexa Williams hit a game-winning lay-up with two seconds left to lift Lehigh. Penn is off to a rough start this season, losing its first nine games before beating St. Francis (N.Y.) 52-48 on December 31. The Quakers come into Tuesday after falling to La Salle 67-51 last Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks (12-2) are off to their best start in program history. The Brown and White started 11-3 last season and the 1984-85 season.
Erica Prosser scored 10 points against Akron to give her exactly 1,000 for her career. She is now the 14th Lehigh women’s basketball player to accomplish this feat, joining current teammate Alex Ross in the elite club.
Lehigh will look to improve to 3-0 against Philadelphia’s Big Five this season after defeating Villanova 80-65 and La Salle 58-47 earlier in the season. Other members of the Big Five include St. Joseph’s and Temple.
Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening from The Palestra in Philadelphia. The game will be broadcast live on WLVR-FM (91.3) and can also be heard live on Lehighsports.com with Jeff Tourial and Mike Lederer on the call.
