Mountain Hawks blank Holy Cross on Sunday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh returned from a two-week layoff by dominating Holy Cross by a 7-0 score in a neutral site match Sunday at Army’s Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and won all six singles contests to improve to 2-0 in the Patriot League and 5-8 overall.
In doubles play, Lehigh pulled out wins at the top two doubles flights, and added an 8-0 win from senior Ruthie Furman and junior Stacey Reich at No. 3 doubles over Paige Brown and Emma Rudnik to take a 1-0 lead.
Lehigh continued its dominance in singles play, led by identical 6-1, 6-0 victories from junior Julie Arthofer and freshman Liz Piscitelli at third and fourth singles respectively. The closest match of the day came at No. 6 singles, where Furman won 7-6, 7-5 over Kathryn Wilkie.
The Mountain Hawks will now have a nine day layoff before returning to action against arch rival Lafayette on Tuesday, April 14. Action gets underway at 3 p.m. from Easton, Pa.
