BETHLEHEM. Pa. – For the second consecutive week Lehigh had a pair of players honored by the Patriot League as sophomore Lauren Dykstra earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades and freshman Kelly Draper was named the Rookie of the Week.  The announcement comes following a week in which the Mountain Hawks earned a pair of victories over La Salle and Davidson by a combined score of 38-11.  This is Dykstra’s second weekly award of the season while Draper’s total is now at four.

In Lehigh’s 20-7 victory over La Salle on March 24, Dykstra found the back of the net seven times, one off her career-high.  The New Jersey native also handed out one assist, scooped up seven ground balls and won three draw controls.  On March 28 the Mountain Hawks raced past Davidson 18-4 as Dykstra scored five goals, scooped up six ground balls and won three draw controls.  Dykstra’s first goal versus the Wildcats was the 100th of her career.  Dykstra also helped the Lehigh defense hold the pair of opponents to a total of 11 goals, as she drew the assignment of defending one of the opposition’s top offensive players, and caused three turnovers for the week.

For the season Dykstra leads the Mountain Hawks with 42 goals, including five games with at least five scores.  She also leads the Brown and White in points (48), ground balls (56), draw controls (31) and free position goals (10).  Dykstra now has 106 career goals.

Draper began last week by scoring one goal and totaling three ground balls and a draw control in the win over the Explorers.  She then followed that up with a six-goal, one assist performance versus Davidson.  The six goals matched her season high, while her seven points and six ground balls versus the Wildcats established a new season high.

Draper has found the back of the net 31 times this season and totaled 37 points, both second best for Lehigh behind only Dystra.  The first year standout has added 29 ground balls, 17 draw controls and six free position goals.  Draper has scored four or more goals three times and has totaled 17 goals in Lehigh’s last five contests.

Lehigh is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Mountain Hawks move back into Patriot League play with a trip to Worcester, Massachusetts to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders.  The opening draw control is set for 12:00.
