Lehigh reflects on 2006 season at banquet

This year’s Eugene M. ’35 and Harriet Henry fall sports banquet was held on Sunday, January 14 at the
Senior Daniela Molina captured two of the three Lehigh Department Awards, winning both the Athlete of the Year Award and the Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Molina was a first-team All-Patriot League selection for the Brown and White. Molina scored one goal in each of Lehigh’s first six contests and finished with a team-leading six goals and 15 points in 2006.
The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. While leading the Mountain Hawks on the pitch, Molina was also one of the team’s top performers in the classroom where she earned a 3.83 grade point average in the fall 2006 semester. Molina carries a cumulative GPA of 3.60 in mechanical engineering and has been a multi-year member of both the Dean’s List and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Senior Meghan Duesing was the recipient of this year’s Coaches Award at the banquet, which is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. Duesing came back from an injury-filled junior campaign to start 17 of 18 contests as an outside back for the Mountain Hawks. One of seven seniors on the Lehigh squad, Duesing was a leader on and off the field for the Mountain Hawks in 2006.
