Mountain Hawks reflect on season at banquet

This year’s Eugene M. ’35 and Harriet Henry fall sports banquet was held on Sunday, January 15 at the
Junior Gina Lewandowski captured the Athlete of the Year Award, which is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. A second team All-Region selection and the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Lewandowski led the Mountain Hawks in scoring for the third straight year with six goals and 16 points. Despite a drop in her goal scoring numbers from her first two seasons, Lewandowski showed an ability to make her teammates better, as she handed our a career high four assists while directing a balanced attack that saw five players score multiple goals this season.
The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. On Sunday, senior Megan Edwards was honored with the award. Edwards earned a 3.22 GPA in the fall 2005 semester, majoring in civil engineering. On the field, Edwards started every game of her senior season and scored her first career goal in Lehigh’s season opening win over
Junior Molly Luft was the recipient of this year’s Coaches Award at the banquet, which is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. A team tri-captain along with Edwards and Lewandowski, Luft has provided tremendous leadership for the Mountain Hawks and played an important role on a defensive unit that yielded the fewest goals in all of Division I women’s soccer.
