Holy Cross too much for Lehigh

Bethlehem, PA -- Lehigh dropped its third consecutive Patriot League contest losing to Holy Cross 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh fell to 4-12 overall and 2-4 in the league with the loss. The Crusaders improved to 6-7-2 overall and 2-4 in the Patriot League.
      Holy Cross proved to be deadly from the corner as its first two goals came by way of crosses off corner kicks. Junior Brandy Ault scored in the 25^th minute, off a pass from senior Erin Patterson. The Crusaders second goal came just five minutes later. Junior Lee Hummer connected with senior Kate O'Shaughnessy to put Holy Cross up 2-0 at the half.
      In the second half the Mountain Hawks could not find the momentum they needed to catch the Crusaders. In the 59^th minute Patterson found the back of the net with O'Shaughnessy providing the assist. Lehigh was unable to stop the Crusader's offense as senior Maria Lauring shot a long ball over the head of freshamn keeper Erin Iwaskiewicz. Ault scored her second goal of the contest in the 83^rd minute to put the game away. Hummer assisted recording her second helper.
      Iwaskiewicz had eight saves on 20 Crusader shots. Holy Cross outshout Lehigh 20-18.
      The Mountain Hawks return to action Wednesday October 31^st when they host Howard in a non-league match up. Kick off is scheduled for 6:00. Fans can listen to the game live at www.lehigh.edu, with Jeff Tourial calling the action and Jonathan Oltman providing color commentary.
