Lehigh's highest ranking in 23 years

Bethlehem, PA- Lehigh has gained its highest national ranking since January of 1980. The Mountain Hawks have jumped to a No. 4 national ranking after two weeks at No. 5, according to the polls released by Intermat and the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
Six of Lehigh’s seven ranked starters are rated among the top ten at their weights. Junior All-American Jon Trenge holds onto his No. 1 ranking at 197. At 165, freshman Troy Letters is ranked No. 3 for the second week as well. After four weeks at No. 7 freshman Derek Zinck moves to No. 6 in the InterMat poll. Classmate Cory Cooperman, at 133, stays at No. 8 while junior Brad Dillon falls to No. 9 at 174 even after a pair of wins. Lehigh’s fourth freshman, Travis Frick at 184, eases up one spot to No. 9/10. Junior heavyweight Joe Sahl slips to 17/19.
The ranking is the highest Lehigh has been in the polls since ranking second on January 28, 1980.
Oklahoma State once again claims the top in both polls. The rest of the top five is identical in both polls. Iowa remains No. 2, despite a loss, Minnesota weighs in at No. 3. The Mountain Hawks are fourth in both polls, while Ohio State rounds out the top five.
Lehigh looks to extend it winning streak to an even dozen this Saturday when the Mountain Hawks host Army at 3 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on the Lehigh website at www.lehigh.edu and on ESPN 1230, WEEX. It will also be televised live on Service Electric Cable TV-2.
