The Mountain Hawks continue their training regiment with less than a week to go before making their 2001-2002 season debut. Here is the second set of a series of weekly updates.
WRESTLE-OFFS: In front of 909 fans, the Brown team beat the White team 21-18 in an extremely exciting and emotional match. Highlighting the action were pins by sophomore tri-captain John Trenge and freshman Tommy Rohn. Tri-captain Rob Rohn recorded the only major decision of the night with nine takedowns and sacrificing seven escapes. Arizona State transfer, Dan Hyman, recorded the only technical fall of the night. In two overtime bouts sophomore Terrance Clendenin defeated sophomore All American Mario Stuart 3-1and senior Troy Minarovic defeated freshman Michael Pirozzola 4-2.
INJURY UPDATE: Senior Heavyweight Shawn Laughlin was forced to sit out of Wrestle-Offs due to pulled ligaments in his thumb. Laughlin is expected to make a full recovery, but won't return to the Mountain Hawks lineup until after December 8th. Junior Bruce Kelly is on his way back to the mat after suffering a knee injury last January. Kelley is expected to rejoin the Mountain Hawks shortly. Due to a shoulder injury Mark Hangsleben is done for the year, and so is John Hyde, who is out with a torn ACL.
HOME OPENER: The Mountain Hawks will begin their 2001-2002 campaign at home November 15th against 15th ranked Pittsburgh. The match is set to begin at 7:00 in Grace Hall. The dual will be televised on Service Electric TV-2, but will be taped delayed and is set to air at 9:30 on Thursday. Lehigh Athletics is also close to landing the match on Fox Sports Pittsburgh. Confirmation should come early next week.
LOCAL FLAIR: Eleven local products pepper the Mountain Hawks' roster. Sophomores John Trenge and Brad Dillion, and senior Troy Minarovic all come to Lehigh via Parkland High School. Seniors Chris Vitale, Rob Rohn, and freshman Travis Frick hail from Nazareth. Freshmen Justin McLennan and Tommy Rohn were recruited from Easton and Nothampton, respectively. Sophomore Mario Stuart graduated from Liberty and James Riddick is a 2001 graduate of The Hill School.

NCAA tickets: Lehigh received an extremely limited number of tickets to the NCAA Championships (100), as did Pennsylvania. Penn State only received 70 NCAA tickets. Fans are encouraged to apply for tickets through the Pepsi Arena website at http://www.pepsiarena.com/.
