BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh (4-1) welcomes archrival Lafayette to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Sunday morning riding a two-game winning streak, which includes a 23-3 pounding of St. Francis (Pa.) in Palm Beach, Florida on March 2. The 4-1 start is the Mountain Hawks best since 2003. Leading the way on offense for the Mountain Hawks thus far has been the two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week Lauren Dykstra, with 15 goals and 20 points. She has scored at least three goals in four of Lehigh’s five games, including four scores in back-to-back contests.
Sophomore Inneke Carmola and junior Sara MacIntyre have combined for 26 goals, while junior Meagan Tenety has handed out a team-high nine assists. In goal for Lehigh, sophomore Kelsy Ferris has stopped 43 shots in 259 minutes of action.
Lafayette (0-3) enters Sunday's game seeking its first win of the season. The Leopards were last in action on March 5 when they fell to Manhattan by a score of 17-13 in Easton. Maddy Booth is the leader on offense with seven goals and eight assists. No other Leopard has more than two assists. Kristin Ruminski has scored six goals, while a trio of Leopards has added four apiece.
Lehigh won last year’s meeting between these rivals 11-5 in Easton, but the Leopards have captured the last six matchups in Bethlehem, including an exciting down-to-the-wire 14-13 affair in 2006. Sunday’s showdown is set to begin at 11:00 AM. Live video will be available at Lehighsports.com.
