Mountain Hawks capture top spot at Muhlenberg Invite

Allentown, PA – Lehigh junior captain Sarah March shot an eleven-over par 81 to capture medalist honors at the Muhlenberg Spring Classic, held at Lehigh Country Club on Monday afternoon. As a team, Lehigh’s 344 was good enough to win the event by three-strokes over second place Mount St. Mary’s. Led by March, Lehigh’s top four golfers all recorded top ten performances. Sophomore Kassia Nelson finished tied with teammate Tiina Olsson for sixth with an 87. Senior Alexis Foucek finished in an eighth place tie with an 88. Lehigh sophomore Ashley DeBarba also took part in the competition, posting a 94 on the afternoon. In addition to the Lehigh team entry, three Mountain Hawks entered the competition individually, and all fared quite well. Sophomore Caitlin Colvin shot an 88 to place in an eighth place tie overall, while Taylor Sauer shot a 90 and Amanda Furiasse a 99 to finish in the event’s top 20. Lehigh returns to the links on Friday, as the Mountain Hawks begin play in the two-day Kutztown Invitational at Berkleigh Country Club.
