Prosser named Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its final player of the week awards for the 2007-08 season on Monday, and Lehigh guard Erica Prosser was named the Rookie of the Week. It was the first career award for Prosser and the first time all season a Lehigh played received a Rookie of the Week award.

In Lehigh’s two games last week, Prosser averaged a team best 14 points per game and 3.5 assists per game. In Wednesday’s game against Bucknell, she scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half to lead the Mountain Hawks to a come from behind victory. On Saturday at Holy Cross, she scored 11 points and tied her career high with five steals.

Prosser ended the regular season second on the team in scoring with 277 points (9.6 per game), second in assists with 66 (2.3 per game) and second in steals with 46 (1.6 per game). Her 277 points were the most by a Lehigh freshman since the 1999-00 season, when Anne Tierney poured in 537 points.

The Mountain Hawks open the 2008 Patriot League Tournament as the No. 3 seed, and face-off against sixth seeded Lafayette. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., from Christl Arena in West Point, N.Y. Jeff Tourial will call the action for ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM, as well as Lehighsports.com.
