Lehigh and Army meet Saturday on ESPNU

Army claimed sole possession of first place on Wednesday, with a 56-54 victory over Holy Cross. Alex McGuire hit a lay-up with three seconds remaining to secure the Black Knights 16th win of the season. Stefanie Stone and McGuire both scored a team high 15 points, while Stone added 10 rebounds, for a double-double. The Black Knights possess the league’s most powerful offense, scoring 60.5 points per game, while holding opponents to 55.6 points against, second best in the league. Their scoring margin of +4.9 is almost double that of the next closest team, Lehigh, whose margin is +2.8. Army also has one of the best ball handling teams in the league, as it is tied for first with the Mountain Hawks with a +1.58 turnover margin.
In this season’s previous meeting, Melissa Rich sank two free throws with five seconds left in overtime to give Lehigh a 59-57 win over Army at Stabler Arena. Alex Ross scored five of Lehigh’s seven overtime points, en route to a game high 17 points. Ross also tied her career high with five three-pointers, shooting five-of-seven from long range in the game. Megan Evans had a double-double, with 14 points and 16 rebounds, to pace the Black Knights.
