Lehigh and Bucknell meet on Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks look to rebound from their first Patriot League loss of the season, when they open a three-game home stand, starting with Bucknell on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In Lehigh’s 48-45 loss to Lafayette, Tricia Smith scored a team high 12 points and was one rebound short of her third double-double of the season. Melissa Rich added eight points and tied her career high with 10 rebounds. Despite holding the Leopards to just 48 points, the Brown and White lost the game, marking the second time since Patriot League play began, a Lehigh team has held an opponent under 50 points and still lost.

The Bison went 1-1 last week, with a 64-58 overtime loss to Lafayette and a 65-36 win against Colgate. Hope Foster averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game in those two contests, and is tied for the Patriot League career lead in blocked shots, with 309. Against the Raiders, Bucknell shot 46.4 percent from the floor, including 63.6 percent from three-point range, while holding Colgate to just 25.5 percent shooting for the game.

Lehigh trails the all-time series 30-29, including 21-13 in Patriot League regular season games. Bucknell has taken the last three meetings, including its first season series sweep of Lehigh, since 2001-02. The Mountain Hawks last win came in 2006, a 56-55 win in Lewisburg, Pa. The last time Lehigh won a regular season home game against the Bison was 2005, a 52-44 victory. Lehigh is 16-12 at home against Bucknell, but just 5-11 since the start of Patriot League play.
