BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks will close out their five game road trip with a pair of games in Jacksonville, Fla. this weekend. Lehigh will play at the University of North Florida on Friday night at 7 p.m., followed by an afternoon game at Jacksonville University on Sunday. Lehigh enters the weekend following back-to-back losses to Princeton and Syracuse last week. Against the Tigers, the Mountain Hawks shot a season low .255 from the floor and turned the ball over a season high 17 times. Erica Prosser and Melissa Rich each put in a team high 10 points in the losing effort. On Sunday in Syracuse, Lehigh played the Orange closely, but was unable to pull away with a win, ultimately falling 61-54. For the second straight year Alex Ross scorched the Orange defense, putting up 17 points, including a career high five three-point field goals. Prosser chipped in with 12 points, tying her career high and was four-for-four from the free throw line, to remain perfect for the season.
North Florida is coming off a win and a loss at the Lady Eagle Classic in Hattiesburg, Miss. In the first round, host Southern Miss handled the Ospreys easily, coming away with an 80-44 victory. Shandrea Moore was the leading scoring for North Florida with nine points and Willonda Windham added another eight points and three rebounds. The Ospreys came away with a win on Saturday against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 51- 43, in the consolation game. Jennifer Guldager had 11 points and nine rebounds to guide the Ospreys to their second win of the season.
This is the first ever meeting between these two schools. The last time Lehigh played a team from Florida, was during the 2001-02 season. The Brown and White lost to Miami, 76-49, as part of the Gatorade Holiday Classic.
