Lehigh looks to rebound from loss

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks enter the halfway mark of their five game road trip, with a game against Big East opponent Syracuse Sunday at 1 p.m. in New York. Lehigh lost its first road game of the year Tuesday night at Princeton. The Mountain Hawks shot just .255 for the game and committed 17 turnovers to just nine assists. Erica Prosser and Melissa Rich tied for the team lead with 10 points each. Rich added six rebounds and Prosser had three assists, one block and one steal. The loss dropped the team’s record to 1-2 and it was Lehigh’s third straight loss to the Tigers.

Syracuse is coming off a 97-72 loss to #6 North Carolina, as part of the inaugural Women’s National Invitational Championship. The Orange had three players in double digit points, led by Erica Morrow, who also grabbed eight rebounds and added five assists and five steals. The Tar Heels cruised by Syracuse in the first half, outscoring the Orange 54-29, and shot .485 from the floor. Syracuse played North Carolina much closer in the second half, as the teams each scored 43 points and shot .435 for the half. The loss was the first of the year for Syracuse, who had beaten Coppin State 69-65 in its only other game of the season.

This will be the second meeting all-time between the two schools. Lehigh took the first game 55-48 last season at Stabler Arena. Alex Ross led Lehigh with a career high 21 points, while Adrienne Blount grabbed a game high 11 rebounds.
