Just a month ago, senior Adrienne Blount guaranteed another game for Lehigh as she sank a pair of clutch free throws with 2.2 seconds remaining in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals as the Mountain Hawks defeated 2006 Patriot League Champion Army 57-53. Unfortunately for Blount and the Mountain Hawks, Lehigh’s season came to an end in overtime of the tournament’s semifinals when eventual league champion Holy Cross emerged with a 65-62 victory. Blount, who did not play in her senior season of high school due to a torn ACL, recorded back-to-back double-doubles in Lehigh’s post season games and became the only player on the All-Tournament team not from Holy Cross or American—the two teams that advanced to the League’s finals.
“First, you’re upset you lose. Then you shake everyone’s hand—and then it hits you,” said Blount. “It all hits you in different moments. It still hits me now.”
