BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh picked up four honorable mentions in the Patriot League’s weekly awards on Monday with seniors Adrienne Blount and Sara Ellis, sophomore Haly Crites and freshman Alex Ross all receiving recognition for the efforts against Colgate and Lafayette last week. It is Blount’s seventh honorable mention of the season, Ross’ fourth Patriot League accolade and Ellis’ third honorable mention. Meanwhile, Crites picked up her first league honor.
Blount was the team’s top rebounder last week, averaging 8.5 rpg. Out of her 17 total boards, 14 came in the second half as Blount pulled down team-high eight rebounds against Colgate and then nine against Lafayette. The Mahopac, N.Y. native totaled 23 points last week, including 17 against Lafayette.
Tuesday night was a night of career-highs for Crites, who established career-highs in points and minutes while tying her career-best in assists. The Collingswood, N.J. native scored ten points in 32 minutes of action against Colgate and was one of four starters to reach double-digits in scoring. She also dished off three assists for the second time this season. Crites was 5-for-6 from the field versus the Raiders.
Ellis led the team in scoring for the week, averaging 12.5 ppg. She was the only Mountain Hawk to reach double figures in both games, netting ten against Colgate and then 15 against Lafayette. Ellis set a new career-high in steals, recording five versus the Raiders and becoming the first Mountain Hawk to have at least five steals in a game since Claire Sullivan had five against Bucknell last season.
Ross was one of four starters to reach double figures against Colgate, netting ten points. She was 3-for-7 from long range, hitting two treys against Colgate—the first time she has sank multiple three-pointers since playing Seton Hall on December 30.
The Mountain Hawks kick off a three-game road stretch on Wednesday night when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to face Bucknell. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 pm from Sokja Pavilion.
