Mountain Hawks visit Bucknell Tuesday night

Lehigh takes to the road for its final two regular season games beginning Tuesday night, as the Mountain Hawks visit in-state rival Bucknell. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to avenge last month’s 13-point win by the Bison over LU at Stabler Arena.

Lehigh enters Tuesday’s game riding a two-game winning streak, following Saturday night’s 29-point win over Lafayette in the home finale. Senior captain Jenny Callan scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, recording her 16th double-double of the season, in that win. Callan averaged over 25 points and 11 rebounds per game last week, and was named the league’s player of the week for the third time this season. Junior captain Sara Ellis surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career, adding 24 in Saturday’s win.

The Bison enter Tuesday night’s affair looking to rebound from a one-point loss at Army Saturday. The setback dropped Bucknell into a tie for second place in the league standings, a game behind Army. The top two teams in the league standings will host the first two rounds of the league tournament, beginning March 2. Bucknell hosts Army Saturday.

Lehigh and Bucknell have met 55 times on the hardwood over the years, with Lehigh holding a slight 28-27 edge. Lehigh is 2-1 at Sojka Pavilion, and the Mountain Hawks are 12-12 against the Bison under head coach Sue Troyan. The two teams first met in the 1976-77 season, when Lehigh earned a 68-66 win in Bethlehem.

Tuesday night’s game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 pm from Sojka Pavilion. The game will not be televised, though the action can be heard live in the Lehigh Valley on WLVR-FM (91.3) and live on the web at Lehighsports.com with streaming provided by Yahoo! Sports. Jeff Tourial will broadcast the game.
