Lehigh returns to the Stabler Arena hardwood Saturday night as the Mountain Hawks host Army on Kids Night. The Mountain Hawks are looking to recover from Tuesday’s emotional home overtime loss at the hands of Navy. The two Lehigh captains, Jenny Callan and Sara Ellis, accounted for 49 points of offense, but the Mountain Hawks came up short in the extra session. Ellis was a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line vs. Navy, and she leads the team in free throw shooting, connecting on over 93% of her opportunities this season (57-of-61). Ellis has connected on 45 of her last 46 attempts since Dec. 3, or 97.8% of her chances over the last ten games.
Meanwhile, Army is off to a 2-0 start in the league, thanks to Tuesday’s win over preseason favorite Holy Cross inside Christl Arena at
Lehigh has not lost conseuctive Patriot League games at home since droppoing three straight (Holy Cross-Colgate-American) in 2004. Thanks to last year’s series sweep, the Mountain Hawks now lead the all-time series between these two schools, 18 to 17. Lehigh has captured the last eight regular season meetings. The two teams have met in the opening round of the Patriot League tournament in three of the last four seasons, with Army winning two of those three games.
Saturday night’s game tips off at 5:05 pm, and tickets can be purchased on the Lehigh web site (Lehighsports.com), by calling (610) 7LU-GAME during normal business hours, or at the Stabler Arena box office on game day. Kids Night festivities will get started when Stabler doors open at 4:00 pm.
