Mountain Hawks host Navy Tuesday night

Lehigh returns to the Stabler Arena hardwood Tuesday night as the Mountain Hawks play host to Navy in the 2006 Patriot League home opener. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to build upon Saturday’s 19-point win at American, a game in which junior forward Adrienne Blount scored a career high 19. Lehigh has won three straight league home openers, and the Mountain Hawks have won nine straight regular season league games at home.

Thanks in large part to her 19-rebound effort vs. Columbia (Jan. 4), senior forward Jenny Callan (Lisle, Ill.) was named the Patriot League player of the week for the second time. For the season, Callan leads the Patriot League averaging 11.9 rebounds per game, ranking fifth nationally (as of Jan. 3).

The Midshipmen head to Bethlehem looking to recover from Saturday’s home loss at the hands of Bucknell. No Navy player reached double figures in the setback, and the Midshipmen shot just 29% from the floor as a team.

The Mountain Hawks have won four straight over Navy at Stabler Arena, and Lehigh sports a 5-2 record at the STAR so far this season. Lehigh leads the all-time series, 17 wins to 16. The Mountain Hawks had won the last eight meetings between these two teams, and ten of the last eleven match-ups before the Mids’ win in Annapolis last February. Lehigh has swept three of the last four season series between the two teams prior to Navy’s win last year.
