Lehigh looks to get back on course Wednesday in D.C.

Lehigh wraps up its brief two game road swing as the Mountain Hawks visit American in their final road contest of the 2005 Patriot League regular season on Wednesday night. Lehigh is looking to put the disappointment of Saturday’s setback at Navy in the rear-view mirror, and get back on track as the regular season winds down. On Saturday, Navy connected on eight three-point field goals in the upset win. Lehigh has done a great job in rebounding after a loss this season. In fact, the Mountain Hawks are 6-1 this season in games following a loss, averaging a 70-61 victory each time out after a setback. Lehigh’s 72-51 win over American (Jan. 8) came after a two-point loss to Marist. Meanwhile, American looks to continue its winning streak. The Eagles have won two in a row, and will look to make it three in their final game inside Bender Arena. American is also looking to avenge last month’s 19-point Lehigh win inside Stabler Arena. American enters Wednesday night’s contest sporting an 11-14 overall mark and a 6-6 Patriot League record after winning its last two contests. The Eagles are 6-6 at home this season, with Wednesday’s game marking their home finale. Senior guard Joanna Barnes leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game, while classmate Jenyce Woodruff is tops on the team in rebounding at 7.2 boards per night. American has dominated the all-time series between the two schools, winning 9 of the 13 previous meetings. The Eagles had won three in a row until Lehigh topped American in January of last season. That triumph marked the Mountain Hawks first-ever win at American in seven tries. Lehigh stopped a two-game American winning streak with last month’s LU triumph at Stabler Arena.
