Lehigh hits the road as the Mountain Hawks visit St. Joseph’s in a non-league showdown on Monday night. The Mountain Hawks seek their first 3-1 start since the 2000-01 season. Last time out, Lehigh built a 17 point first half lead and cruised to a 13 point triumph over Princeton on Tuesday night. Sophomore Sara Ellis sank a personal best five three-pointers in the win.
Meanwhile, the Hawks return home for the first time since hosting the WNIT earlier this month. This past weekend, Saint Joseph’s took part in the Dead River Classic at the University of Maine, falling to the host school in the championship game. Lehigh and St. Joseph’s have not met in Philadelphia since 1986, a 79-37 SJU thumping of Lehigh.
St. Joseph’s leads the all-time series between these two schools, six games to none. The Hawks and Lehigh met last year for the first time since 1987, with St. Joe’s earning a 62-48 win at Stabler Arena. In 1987, the Hawks rolled to a 70-45 victory over Lehigh. St. Joseph’s has won all three previous games played in Philadelphia.
Monday’s action tips off at 7:00, with radio coverage getting underway at 6:45 on WLVR-FM and on lehighsports.com.
