Atlanta, GA - The Lehigh women's basketball team has once again been honored as one of the most successful academic programs in the country. Last year, the Mountain Hawks' team grade point average (GPA) of 3.310 ranked 14th in all of Division I, according to the annual Team Honor Roll announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Lehigh has now been named to the prestigious Team Honor Roll for two years in a row.
Last fall, ten of the 14 players on the active roster boasted a GPA of 3.0 or better, with eight players making the Dean's List after exceeding a GPA of 3.5. In the spring semester, seven players qualified for the Patriot League's Academic Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, led by Mary Frances Hynoski's impressive 3.87 average.
Lehigh's triumphs in the classroom translated to success on the court, as the Mountain Hawks tied a team record with nine Patriot League wins and advanced to the Patriot League semifinals. Junior forward Jessica DePalo set school records with 232 field goals made and an 18.9 point-per-game average for the season, and is in line to become Lehigh's 11th 1,000-point scorer.
