Patriot League unbeatens collide Saturday in Washington
1/16/2004 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
Two of the three remaining Patriot League unbeatens square off Saturday afternoon as Lehigh takes to the road to visit American. Both teams are off to a 2-0 start in Patriot League play, and both have beaten the same league competition. Lehigh defeated Bucknell 69-58 on Wednesday thanks to career highs from Jessica DePalo (28 points) and Sara Ellis (15 points). Both DePalo and Ellis topped their personal bests set in last Saturday’s victory over Navy. On Tuesday, American downed Navy in Annapolis, led by Kaitlin Schuyler’s 11 points, 5 assists, and four steals. Schuyler’s mark of 10.9 points per game is tops on the team. American’s other league win came last Saturday at home against the Bison. The winner of this contest will keep their eyes on the scoreboard, as Colgate (2-0) visits Army. American has dominated the all-time series between the two schools, winning seven of the nine previous meetings. The Eagles have also won the last three times the two teams have played. Lehigh has never won at American, as the Mountain Hawks are 0-6 all-time, including four losses at Bender. The last Lehigh victory over the Eagles came in 2002, when the Mountain Hawks picked up a 68-60 victory over American at Stabler Arena. Saturday’s game is scheduled for a 3:15 tip-off, and the action can be heard live on WLVR-FM in the Lehigh Valley, as well as on Lehigh’s web site at Lehighsports.com, with streaming provided by Yahoo! Sports. Pregame audio coverage gets underway at 3:00.
