Mountain Hawks look to start 2004 with a win
1/3/2004 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
The Mountain Hawks open 2004 in search of their first winning streak of the season as Lehigh visits Fairleigh Dickinson. The Mountain Hawks are fresh off their second win of the season on Wednesday, a thrilling 86-83 double-overtime victory over Mount St. Mary’s in the consolation game of the Christmas City Classic. Junior Jessica DePalo poured in a career high 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting in the win. She added 14 rebounds and four blocks in earning all-tournament honors. The Knights come into today’s contest after a victory at Yale on Wednesday. Four FDU players hit for double figures in the win. FDU is 2-0 at home this season, while Lehigh is 1-2 on the road. The Knights and Lehigh have squared off only once before: a 90-63 Fairleigh Dickinson victory in January of 1992. That game was played in Orlando at Central Florida’s holiday tournament. Sue Troyan has never faced the Knights, and Sandy Gordon Gaglioti has never met the Mountain Hawks. Saturday’s game tips off at 2:00, and the action can be heard live on WLVR-FM in the Lehigh Valley, as well as on Lehigh’s web site at Lehighsports.com, with streaming provided by Yahoo! Sports. Jeff Tourial delivers the play-by-play.
