Mountain Hawks set for Patriot League tournament

With the regular season in the books, Lehigh heads south to take part in the 13th annual Patriot League Tournament, which kicks off Friday. The third-seeded Mountain Hawks will take on No. 6 Army in the opening round. The Mountain Hawks (12-14 overall, 9-5 Patriot League) were paced by the play of senior Anne Tierney and freshman Dawn Gorynski throughout the course of the season. Tierney became the first player in league history to earn all-league first team accolades in all four seasons, as she led the league in rebounds and scored nearly 15 points per contest against league opponents. Gorynski was honored as the league’s Rookie of the Year after leading the league in assist-to-turnover ratio and three-point field goal percentage. She set a school record by earning Rookie of the Week recognition on six occasions. Meanwhile, the Black Knights are led by all-league first team selection Katie Macfarlane. She was the only player in the league to average a double-double over the course of the entire season. Lehigh won both meetings between the two teams during the regular season. However, Army has captured both games in tournament play, including a 71-66 victory in the opening round of the 2002 tournament. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 on Friday night from the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Radio and Internet broadcast coverage gets underway at 7:20 pm.
