Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh senior forward Anne Tierney has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the week ending February 9. Tierney wins the award – voted on by media members and league sports information directors – for the first time this season, and for the sixth time in her career. In Lehigh’s only game last week, Tierney scored 19 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the win over Navy. The double-double was the captain’s eighth of the season, and school-record 51st of her career. She was 10-of-12 at the free throw line, dished out 3 assists, and came away with two steals in the win. "What more can you say about Anne?" quipped Lehigh head coach Sue Troyan. "She has done it all for us as a leader on the floor and has been instrumental in our success." Tierney continues to set records throughout her senior campaign. She is Lehigh’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder, and she has pulled down more boards than any other player in Patriot League women’s basketball history. She is also one of only two in league history to score over 1,500 points and pull down over 1,000 career rebounds. Thanks in large part to Tierney, Lehigh has been on a roll of late. The Mountain Hawks have won their last five contests, and are tied for first place with a 7-1 record in league play. Lehigh stands just one victory away from tying the school record for league wins in a season. The Mountain Hawks are back in action on Tuesday night, when Lehigh hosts Bucknell. Game time is set for 5:30 from Stabler Arena, and tickets can be purchased at the Arena box office or by calling (610) 7LU-GAME. For more information, contact
