Lehigh preps to host Lafayette Friday

The Mountain Hawks resume league play on Friday night, as Lehigh plays host to Lafayette inside Stabler Arena. Lehigh (5-10 overall, 2-1 Patriot League) looks to snap a two-game losing streak with a win Friday night. Last time out, the Mountain Hawks dropped a non-league game to Pennsylvania. Anne Tierney had a strong second half for Lehigh, finishing the night with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Tierney enters Friday night’s contest needing only nine rebounds to become the second player in Patriot League history to have 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Meanwhile, cross-town rival Lafayette has had a tough go of it this season. The Leopards are 2-13 overall (1-2 in the league), and have dropped ten of their last eleven games. Riddled with injuries, Lafayette has been out-scored by an average of 15 points per game. The Leopards have been led by the play of Colleen Fitzpatrick. She is tops on the team in both scoring (16.7 points per game) and rebounding (6.8 boards per contest). Lafayette leads the all-time series between the two schools, 33-23. However, the Mountain Hawks have owned the series in recent years, capturing the last six meetings. Friday’s contest gets underway at 6:00, with radio coverage beginning at 5:45. The game will also be shown on Saturday night on Service Electric TV-2 sports at 7:30.
