Bethlehem, PA – For the second time in the last three weeks, Lehigh freshman point guard Dawn Gorynski has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. This week’s award is for the week ending January 5. In two games played last week, Gorynski averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and only one turnover as the Mountain Hawks split a pair of games. She shot 50% from the floor (13-of-26), including an impressive 45% from beyond the three-point arc. Gorynski poured in 14 points and pulled down a career-best seven rebounds in Lehigh’s runaway 30 point victory at St. Francis (NY) on January 2. That night she also came away with a career high four thefts, and matched her personal best with five assists. Two days later, she tied her career high with 19 points and posted three assists with no turnovers in a loss to Quinnipiac. Gorynski was 8-of-15 shooting on the night. "It’s nice to see Dawn recognized once again for her strong play," said head coach Sue Troyan. "In her short time at Lehigh, she has become a valuable leader out on the floor for us." Through ten contests, Gorynski is second on the team, averaging 8.8 points per game. She has started at the point guard position in all ten games, and leads the Patriot League with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.20. Her 3.3 assists per game also ranks among the league leaders, and is tops on the team. Lehigh (2-8) returns to action on Tuesday, when the Mountain Hawks host Princeton. Game time is set for 7:00 from Stabler Arena, and tickets for the contest can be purchased through the Lehigh Ticket Office at (610) 7LU-GAME. For more information, contact
