Gorynski earns Rookie of the Week recognition

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh freshman point guard Dawn Gorynski has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 22. In the Mountain Hawks’ only contest last week, Gorynski had a breakout game at Virginia Commonwealth. She came out blazing – connecting on her first seven field goal attempts, including three from beyond the arc. Gorynski finished the night with a career best 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, ands she matched her personal best with four assists on the evening. "Dawn has done a terrific job as our starting point guard," said head coach Sue Troyan. "It was great to see her score some points at VCU, because that gives us an added dimension on the floor." Through six contests. Gorynski is averaging six points per game. She has made the start in all six games on the season, and ranks second on the Mountain Hawks with an average of 2.83 assists per contest. Lehigh (1-5) returns to action on Friday, when the Mountain Hawks visit Loyola University Chicago. Game time is set for 8:00 pm Eastern from the Joseph Gentile Center. For more information, contact
