Lehigh to open with Santa Clara

Lehigh begins its 2002-03 season on Friday night, when the Mountain Hawks play host to the Santa Clara Broncos at 5:30 pm. Sue Troyan’s squad returns all 12 letter winners from last season’s team, which set a school record for number of Patriot League wins (8). The Mountain Hawks are led by senior Anne Tierney, who is already Lehigh’s all-time leading rebounder, and is third in points scored. Meanwhile, the Broncos head to Stabler Arena for the first time. Santa Clara spent most of last season in the Top 25, and earned an NCAA Tournament berth. Last year’s West Coast Conference champions made their third trip to the postseason in the last five years, and return 11 letter winners from that bunch.
