Tierney, Toliver capture league honors

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh junior Anne Tierney has been selected to the All-Patriot League First Team by the league’s coaches. Sophomore Carli Toliver earned Second Team accolades. Through nearly three seasons, Tierney has already shattered several school records. The co-captain is Lehigh’s all-time leader in rebounds, and is rapidly climbing the Mountain Hawks’ all-time scoring list; she is currently third. She led Lehigh in both points scored (14.7) and rebounds (9.3) per game this past season, ranking fifth and second in the league, respectively. Tierney recorded 14 double-doubles on the season, including nine against Patriot League opponents. Carli Toliver was second on the Mountain Hawks squad, averaging 12 points per contest. The shooting guard showed her ability to quickly change the complexion of a game via her sharpshooting from the outside. Toliver led the league in three point field goals made per contest in league play (3.36), was second behind teammate Cat Nicholson is three point shooting (42.3% in league games), and led Lehigh in scoring (14.5 points per league game). For Tierney, the award marks three consecutive seasons as a member of the First Team. She also garnered All-Rookie Team and Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman, and was named the league’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a sophomore. Toliver earns league honors for the first time. Lehigh begins its quest for a Patriot League title on Friday when the third-seeded Mountain Hawks take on no. six Army in a quarterfinal match-up.
