Lehigh preps for first place showdown Saturday
9/16/2003 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
The two teams currently atop the Patriot League standings collide when Lehigh visits Bucknell on Saturday in a battle for sole possession of first place. Both the Mountain Hawks and Bison are 4-1 in league play. Lehigh is riding high, winners of its last three contests. On Wednesday, Lehigh beat American, as junior Anne Tierney became Lehigh’s all-time leading rebounder with 795 career boards. Sophomore Carli Toliver continued her strong play with 15 points, and freshman Jessica DePalo came off the bench to score 11 points and pull down nine rebounds. Slowing down the Bison means trying to contain Molly Creamer. The junior is currently sixth in the nation, averaging 22 points per contest. Creamer has been named the league’s Player of the Week every week so far in January. She is one of four Bucknell players averaging double figures in the scoring column. The Mountain Hawks and Bison split a pair of games last season, with each team winning on the other’s home floor. Lehigh has won two games in a row in Davis Gym. Saturday’s tip-off is set for 1:00.
