BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off an impressive 80-65 non-league victory over the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday night, Lehigh will remain at home when it hosts Duquesne tonight at 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena. Five Lehigh players scored in double figures to lead the Brown and White to its first win over a Big East opponent since defeating Syracuse 55-48 in 2006. Junior Erica Prosser and sophomore Emily Gratch led the offensive attack with 17 points each. After winning its first four games of the season, Duquesne is 2-2 in its last four. The Dukes are coming off 69-61 loss to Robert Morris last Tuesday night. Duquesne (6-2) is looking to improve on a program record 20-wins it had in the 2008-09 season.
The last time a Lehigh team had five players in double figures was on December 9, 2006 against NJIT. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Highlanders 70-44 and contributing to the offensive outburst was: Adrienne Blount (10), Melissa Rich (11), Sara Ellis (11), Kristen Dalton (11) and Alex Ross (10). Ross and Dalton were two of the players in double figures on Saturday night (Courtney Dentler with 11, was the fifth).
A win tonight would give Lehigh 21 straight home victories which is the fourth longest win-streak in Division I.
The Dukes head coach, Suzie McConnell-Serio, has been involved with the WNBA as coach (Minnesota Lynx 2003-05) and as a player (Cleveland Rockers 1998-00).
Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. tonight from Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus. The game will be broadcast live on WLVR-FM (91.3) and can also be seen live on Lehighsports.com with Steve Lomangino on the call. Tickets are available in advance by calling 610-7LU-GAME or online at Lehighsports.com, and on game day at the Stabler Arena box office 60 minutes prior to tipoff.
