Prosser is just the second Lehigh player to ever win the award, after Jessica DePalo took home the honor in 2005. The sophomore guard led the league in scoring with 15.9 points per game since league play began. She also finished the season ranked tied for second in overall scoring (14.4 PPG), second in assists (4.4 APG) and third in steals (2.1 SPG). On Tuesday, Prosser was named First Team All-Patriot League for her stellar performance on the court this season.
“Erica’s development this year is one of the big keys for our success this year,” Troyan said. “She has really come along as a player, and I think that’s because she’s had people behind her all season.”
Prosser was named the Patriot League’s player of the week four times this season, including back-to-back weeks on two separate occasions. She led the team or tied for the lead in scoring in 16 of Lehigh’s 30 regular season games and scored at least 20 points in six games. Prosser scored at least 10 points in 24 of the 30 games this season.
Troyan guided the Mountain Hawks to their best league record in school history (12-2), taking home the school’s first regular season Patriot League title in the process. Troyan cracked the 20-win mark for the first time in her career, leading the Brown and White to a 23-6 record heading into the tournament. Troyan’s first award came in 2005, when she led the Mountain hawks to 19 wins and a then-school-record 10 league wins.
"This really is a team award," Troyan said. "It really reflects the job our team and our coaching staff did this year. This is an award for the whole team and coaching staff."
Angela Myers and Trisha Krewson also took home awards in the event, held at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. Myers was named Defensive Player of the Year and Krewson earned Rookie of the Year honors.
The Mountain Hawks will be the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, starting Saturday at noon, when they host the eighth-seeded Colgate Raiders. Lehigh rolled to a 14-0 record at home in the regular season, and will host at least the first two rounds of the tournament. The championship game will be played at the site of the highest seed remaining on March 11.
